Conference venue

The conference will be held in Krakow, the traditional cultural and historical capital of Poland, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This town is full of historical monuments, including the original Old Town with its specific atmosphere unchanged since the Middle Ages, the Royal Wawel Castle and the Gothic St Mary's Basilica, the historical Cloth Hall, "Wieliczka" Salt Mine, and the Pieskowa Skala Castle.


This town is also a strong academic center with one of the oldest Universities in Europe – the Jagiellonian University (founded in 1364), Cracow University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology and many other colleges and higher schools. The ISPDC 2008 sessions will be hosted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics of the AGH University of Science and Technology in the new, modern and air–conditioned site of the Department of Telecommunications.

The DoT is an important centre for education and research in communications technology focusing on high-speed networking and services to e-world.
